Day 32/366 – Tinker Hatfield autographed her Air Jordan XI’s!
Shoe size: 4.5 in boys (6 in womens).
Born and raised: Houston, TX / Now residing in: Portland, OR
Graduated from: Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles, CA with a Bachelors in Fashion Design.
What is it about sneakers? “I love good design. That’s why I collect them. Shoes are like pieces of art.” Lynn mentioned that sneakers definitely play a role in her clothing designs.
Kicks on her feet (to the left): Nike Air Jordan III’s. These were her first favorite pair of Jordan’s. She loves the design and they are very comfortable.
Lynn brought along her all-time favorite kicks (pictured below): Nike Air Jordan XI’s in Black/Varsity Red-White. “These are my Christian Louboutin’s with the red bottoms. They are fashion forward and lead their own path.” Lynn says they are super comfortable, she loves the patent leather (Tinker drew inspiration from a lawn-mower) and the red bottom outsole. They were a gift.
These sneakers are extra special because: they have been autographed by Tinker Hatfield! Lynn had the amazing opportunity to meet Mr. Hatfield in person a year ago. She took the shoe off her foot and he enthusiastically signed the midsole. She was hyped to meet such an iconic designer! (The only sad part of the story is these kicks have officially retired from the streets…for a good reason I must say.)
TINKER HATFIELD IS…the renowned designer of many of Nike’s most iconic and innovative athletic shoe designs, including the Air Jordan’s (III-XX). Complex’s article titled “30 Years in the Making: Tinker Hatfield’s Best Sneaker Designs” just blew me away. It’s amazing to think that one person (with the help of his colleagues of course) designed all of these amazing sneakers. They will be around forever. If I could be anyone for a day, Tinker would be up there at the top of my list for sure!
“When you sit down to design something, it can be anything, a car, a toaster, a house, a tall building or a shoe, what you draw or what you design is really a culmination of everything that you’ve seen and done in your life previous to that point.” – Tinker
Thank you, Lynn for sharing your special kicks with us. You’re awesome. Tinker is awesome.
This may very well may be my favorite post yet. 🙂 Hope you enjoyed!
