Favorite quote: “When I let go of what I am, I become what I might be.” –Lao Tzu

Art was Ashley’s first passion; her first love. Industrial design caught her eye in 9th grade. She then got a taste of the
footwear industry via internships with Reebok and Converse and the rest was history. 🙂 Ashley appreciates great design and has a passion for sneakers – she enjoys creating fresh, new products and strives to make each one better. She is proud of her involvement in Nike’s N7 collection; for example, the Air Native Tempo pictured below. N7’s commitment is to bring sport and all of its benefits to Native American and Aboriginal communities in the USA and Canada. Through activity, competition and play, one can unleash the power of their generation.

One pair of sneakers to wear for the rest of your life? “They would be Converse Chuck Taylor Highs. They resonate with all people like a pair of jeans,” said Ashley. One pair missing from her collection is the LeBron 8 “South Beach” since her hometown is Miami!

Ashley admires free spirits who are doing their thing. D’wayne Edwards would be one example. He’s the former design director for Nike Inc.’s Jordan Brand who opened Pensole Footwear Design Academy in Portland’s Old Town/Chinatown district this past January. Ashley mentors students to help them achieve their goals of becoming a footwear designer.

She’s a fan of Theopholis London for his music and swagger. Give this song a listen…perfect for a Friday!
